Geothermal Energy: Iceland, USA and Australia to exchange experiences
This international partnership will facilitate the sharing of their knowledge and experiences, both technical and political.
The agreement places particular emphasis on Enhanced Geothermal Systems (EGS), and the system’s conversion of heat into electricity.
“Enhanced geothermal systems have the potential to be the only source of renewable energy available at any time as an energy base,” says Katharine Fridriksen, U.S. Department of Energy.
The program of partnership, encouraging research, development and deployment of projects critical to widespread technologies of EGS and deep drilling, exchange best practices and support education and training programs
There is no doubt that Iceland will bring its experience as the country responds to a quarter of its electricity needs through the heat of the basement, and 90% of its heating needs.
