Science-HUB – World of Science

United States – After successfully completing their mission to repair and upgrade the Hubble Space Telescope, astronauts of the shuttle Atlantis landed yesterday in California at Edwards AFB. Bad weather had forced to postpone the landing for two days.

Almost 13 days after leaving Earth, the shuttle Atlantis and its seven astronauts are finally back. Postponed twice due to bad weather landing was planned for Friday 22 May on the basis of Cape Canaveral, Florida, but NASA has finally decided to change its plans by ordering the astronauts to land on the Edwards, California base.

NASA waited two days to decide what change in plan because of the time and money that makes it lose landing in California. The shuttle Atlantis is now back in effect in Florida on the road, representing about one week of travel and two million dollars of additional budget.

As for Hubble, he was again alone in orbit, repaired and renovated. It should remain there for at least five years before being replaced by the James Webb telescope.
