Poll: Internet is by far the most popular source of information
United States – The Internet is by far the most popular source of information for Americans.
More than half of Americans prefer the Internet rather than television (21%), newspapers or radio (10%).
Here is the result of an online survey conducted by Zogby Interactive.
Social sites are not considered as a source of information and only 10% of respondents have confidence in this type of site in terms of information. Twitter, for example, is reliable only for 4% of respondents.
Concerning the reliability of the news on the net, 40% of adults who participated designate the site as the most reliable source. 17% of them then opt for television, 16% for newspapers and 13% for radio.
The results of this survey confirm that traditional media are gaining to develop their own websites, which are often preferred to newspapers or television channels which put the online information.
Blogs are less popular in source of information: only 28% of respondents say that their content is really important.
Regarding the perception of the future, a large majority (82%) believe that the Internet should be the main source of information in the next 5 years.

Interesting, especially considering television news is widely considered to be the least informative news medium.
