3 July 2003: A unique view of the Earth-Moon couple

During the night of 3 July 2003, the Mars Express probe has returned back an high resolution image to get a view of the Earth system – Moon from a distance of 8 million km on its way to Mars. This image was the first planetary objects obtained by the stereo camera at high resolution (or HRSC High Resolution Stereo Camera) of the probe.
This image was constructed by combining a black and white image at high resolution of the Earth and Moon taken by the HRSC with color information obtained by the sensors blue, green and red of the instrument.
