Spam and viruses take advantage of the death of Michael Jackson
United States – The cyber-criminals will use the interests of Internet users on the death of Michael Jackson to infiltrate computers.
New type of spam messages are invading mailboxes. Gary Warner, an American specialist in crime, tracks these new junk emails, which circulate making use of the death of the celebrity since June 30.
He said that recently, criminals have incorporated the virus in an e-mail announcing the discovery of the killer of Michael Jackson. Previously, e-mail could take other forms as an e-card, a link to track the package or even a false update of Microsoft Outlook. But now the theme has changed.
Gary Warner wanted to warn Internet users indicating that they should not click on the link in the message if you get anything in the name of the celebrity. The risk is indeed it installs a virus whose purpose is to steal account numbers and passwords. One of the subjects of these e-mails is: “Michael Jackson is dead … but who killed Michael Jackson? . This link may lead to the installation of malware. Once installed, the malicious program tries to retrieve the bank account details and passwords of the user. It also convert the search results on Google to post results which lead to other sites of installations of malware.
