Thousands of Giant jellyfish stranded on the coast of Scotland
Scotland – Moon jellyfishes measuring nearly 40 cm were discovered on the beaches. Usually, the individuals of this species do not exceed 10 cm.
These days, vacationers have discovered groups of jellyfish stranded on beaches in Scotland, near Banff, in the Moray Firth, north of Aberdeen. Other jellyfishes have been reported in various areas of the island.

The experts explain that the presence of these gigantic jellyfishes are due to high temperatures of the sea
Dr. Kevin Robinson, the unit responsible for research and preservation of whales, said that the waters around Scotland are currently filled with jellyfish that size. “The temperatures are much higher near the coast this year. Normally we measure temperatures of 14 or 15 ° C, but we are now faced with much higher temperatures, at least 17 ° C. ”
The scientist added that these conditions are conducive to a population explosion and optimal growth of jellyfish, explaining their gigantic size. Although Moon jellyfish are not known to bite humans, the high temperature of sea water has caused the emergence of new species like lion jellyfish, the most dangerous, which has already been spotted off the British coast in recent weeks.
