Toyota: Marketing of fuel-cell vehicle by 2015

Japan – The vice president of Toyota, Masatami Takimoto, said that the company wants to remain at the cutting edge of technology for the production of “green cars” preserving the environment.

In this spirit, Toyota is preparing to provide the marketing of the fuel cell car by 2015. This statement was released at a meeting of shareholders, in response to a question from an investor on the manufacturing of “zero emission” cars.

The fuel cell technology will generate electricity by combining fuel hydrogen with combustion oxidizer, oxygen. The car then emits only water.

Toyota had already begun to sell small quantities of hybrid cars with fuel cell in the United States in 2002. However, all car manufacturers have so far tended to focus on technologies like cheaper hybrid batteries.

You should know that fuel cells remain expensive and difficult to store hydrogen to go far enough.

Toyota is working on the development of cleaner cars to fight against the current automotive crisis. In May, the new Prius was launched, which represented the best sale in Japan this month.

Ethanol or methanol based fuel cell would be nice to have around. It would actually make the air in the cities more cleaner.
