Scientists from the Institute of stem cells at the University of Connecticut offered to fight with colon cancer, as well as other types of cancer using a new vaccine, created on the basis of stem cells. Generally the cancer and stem cells has many similar molecular and biological traits.

The process of treatment will be as follows. After producing the vaccine using human stem cells, doctors will be able to deceive the immune system, which will think that the cancer cells are already present in the body, and starts the immune program to fight malignant tumors.

Researchers have long speculated that immunization with human embryonic material may initiate anti-tumor immune response. However, this theory was proved only by experiments on animals. They concluded that the human stem cells help to create immunity against colon cancer.

At the moment, the vaccine of stem cells was tested only against colon cancer, but researchers tend to believe that it can also be successfully used against many types of this disease and it will become a universal anticancer agent.
