The American industries are investing in a new algae-based fuel

The United States – the American industries are turning towards to a new energy. After the rise in oil prices, they decided to invest in a new fuel made from algae.
Two giants of American industry have partnered with companies offering biofuels. Dow Chemical has partnered with Algenol Biofuels and ExxonMobil have partnered with biotechnology company Synthetic Genomics. The world’s oil gaint has agreed to adopt green energy by agreeing to invest $ 600 million for this new biofuel.
Emil Jacobbs, vice president of ExxonMobil said: “The world’s energy needs require …

COLED – new technology for organic light emitting diodes

New high-efficiency light sources that can entirely displace incandescent lamps and fluorescent lights has been developed.
Scientists nonprofit research institute SRI International and the Japan-based chemical company Showa Denko KK (SDK) combined a resonant organic light-emitting diodes (cavity organic light-emitting diode, COLED) and the light-emitting polymers of SDK. COLED – this is a new structure that uses resonators to generate five times more light on the conventional OLED. The devices potentially twice the efficiency of fluorescent lamps containing mercury, has problems with the physical placement in compact devices.

Einstein’s theory was not always right, as evidenced by the Brownian motion

The theory of Brownian motion goes back mainly to Albert Einstein and involves, in the case of the diffusion of particles, the famous bell curve of Gauss. A group of American researchers have recently discovered that Einstein’s theory did not work in some cases.
At the beginning of the twentieth century, the assumption that the material was composed of atoms was not accepted by the entire scientific community. Some felt uncomfortable with these “metaphysics” so small we could not directly observe or verify their existence with a microscope and wanted to …

Renewable energy: Will biomass targets be achieved?

France – If France is relying heavily on biomass to meet its targets for renewable energy development by 2020, a study by the institute Xerfi concludes that the targets for 2012 relating to the recovery of organic waste will not be achieved.
France has set itself the goal of reaching a production of energy from renewables by 23% by 2020 and to this end, it relies heavily on biomass, one of the first green energy in the country which is to develop the organic waste and wood. Half of this growth …

Lumiblades, a bright new idea from Philips

Netherlands – Lumiblades are available in different colors: red, blue, green or white. It is an application of technology OLED (Organic Light-Emitting Diode) or “organic LED.”
OLEDs are presented in the form of assemblies of small diodes close proximity to each other. The advantage of this principle is that the entire surface, rather than a single point of the bulb, radiates light.
General Electric Co., Siemens AG and Royal Philips Electronics NV, develop OLEDs and believe that this technology will replace our current bulbs or even LED lights that start to invade …
